Her hands are rigid with the alternate shocks of fear and adrenaline,gripping tightly her weapon of choice. She shudders as the whale like moans reverberate through the chamber she is trapped in, fearing to turn around to what she knows is an inevitable assault by the daddy of all monsters.

Suddenly her vision falters for a second. After another a second of shocked stillness, she turns around to fire at it whatever it is that she’s got on her - pistols, machine guns, napalms, electroshocks, even a couple of whacks from a tightly gripped wrench. A few times, she hears her own heartbeat stronger in her chest, and she knows that her health is faltering. But she staggers and fights back, this fight that she knows she’ll have to win.

By an accident of sheer chance, her body sends a course of shock waves to this gruesome monster and it collapses like a heavy chunk of trash. The little girl it protects runs around frantically, scared about her fate without her dear Mr Bubbles.

She saves her, like she saves them all.

Her phone buzzes. “Ah bummer, I better stop playing Bioshock”, she mutters.
